Vanderbilt Beach is very popular and the most international of all the beaches in the area. You’ll hear lots of different languages spoken as you walk along the beach and don’t be offended if you’re an early-morning walker looking for a reply to the customary “good morning” greeting. It does get crowded during the high season, so go early if you plan on setting up camp for a day at the beach.
There is a turn-around for loading and unloading your beach stuff at the intersection of Vanderbilt Beach Road and Gulf Shore Drive. Parking is either metered spots along Vanderbilt Beach Road, if you’re an early bird, or in the parking garage nearby. The parking garage is a good choice because your vehicle will be shaded all day and it’s very close to the beach itself. There are about 350 spaces and free if you have a Collier County beach sticker – otherwise it’s $8 for the day. Restroom facilities and showers to clean off the sand are adjacent to the beach entry.
There are several restaurants and convenience stores close by for whatever you might want during the course of the day. At the upper end of the spectrum, you have a beachfront restaurant & bar at the Ritz Carlton Beach Hotel which is immediately south of the beach entry point and The Turtle Club which is just north (both open to the public).
At the other end of the spectrum, you have two convenience stores and a pizza place right at the corner of Vanderbilt Beach Road and Gulf Shore Drive. For snacks, beverages and beach rentals there is Cabana Dan’s right smack on the beach as you enter on the boardwalk ramp.
Here’s a fun local tip: even if you don’t use this beach during the day, go there before sunset to check out the social scene. A group of Italians play beach bocce ball every day at this location right in front of the ramp to the beach. They have the music going, they have the commentary going Italian-style and it’s a lot of fun to watch as you enjoy another perfect tropical sunset in Naples.
As always, don’t be afraid to call or text at (239) 272-4848.
