Are you kidding me? A seaglass collector NEVER divulges where they find their best pieces! Absolutely unheard of! Well, in the spirit of generosity and a genuine desire for you to enjoy all that Naples has to offer you, we’re going to disclose the exact location, right here in Southwest Florida, where we have found our most cherished gems of seaglass.
We have traveled the world in search of seaglass and have had great success in St. Croix, Bermuda, Egypt, New England, Maryland and California. We have found some beautiful blue pieces. However, the only red garnet color and orange pieces that we have ever found anywhere was right here in Collier County.
Travel west on Bonita Beach Road to the beach and park in either the Bonita Beach parking lot or the Barefoot Beach Access parking lot (even better if you happen to have a Collier County Beach Parking sticker). Walk south on the beach along Barefoot Beach. We won’t exaggerate – seaglass is not as plentiful here as other seaglass locations.
Most of what you’ll find will be brown and green, as expected. However, it is along this stretch just as the big, beachfront single-family homes begin where we found the reds and oranges. We have also found marbles cured by years of tumbling around in the saltwater in this area.
As always, low tide will reap more rewards and check the post “Where Do I Find Sand Dollars?” for information about the tide schedule. Let us know about your own successes!
